It’s being reported that writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the writing team behind the Deadpool franchise, have stepped away from the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot now leaving the project with an uncertain future. Disney insiders say the two are no longer a part of the series six installment. The films have all been centered around Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp. This latest installment sought to remove Depp and his character from the series and sail in a new direction. This latest news comes as a surprise, after the October hiring of the duo and the buzz it generated about the duo playing a large part in the revival of the franchise which saw its glory days almost a decade ago. Insiders are divided about the future of the Pirates franchise. Some are reporting Disney is on the search for replacement writers, while others think the series has indefinitely hit dry-dock.
